What do you all think of sweater clips? Granny wanna-be that I am, I kinda love them! And they actually look really convenient for people living in very blustery places like the banks of Cork City Harbour. I'm spending this afternoon playing around with a few ideas for making them, I'll post some pictures in the next few days :) If the experiments go well, I'll try do up a quick tutorial for you all to!
P.s: don't you just love the outfit in the last picture! I need a cardi like that in my life :)
I was thinking the exact same thing about that last outfit!
ReplyDeleteAnd I really like the look of sweater clips too:) Sometimes I wonder if it's perhaps a bit too pearl-wearing-Amercian-suburban-armywife but most of them just look so cute that I can only love them.
Anyway, I can't say I own a pair yet, so I look forward to your DIY:)
I don't think you can ever go too far with the 50s housewife look, the twee perfection of it all is what's so charming about it :) Although personally, I don't have the hair styling skills or fingers nails to really pull it off properly ;) I think I might go look in my favourite vintage store for a cardi like that tomorrow, I know they usually have a good selection of 50s ones!
DeleteYes, that's true, there is no over-the-top in 50s styles! Perhaps that is the key to make sweater clips work, keep it 50s.
DeleteHaha, same here. Short fingernails and not enough patience, or hairspray, to fix my hair each day. But I've been sporting Bettie Page bangs for the past year or so. Instant vintage look, no hassle;)
oh how cute. It's years since I made a clip like that, and that was for a tea-stained shawl for Bloomsday. Thanks for the idea! I might just customise an old cardi and give it new life...... Love the entire last outfit. That dress shape is so flattering.
